About Terrance Adam

Terrance Adam is an author whose books explore relationships, faith, personal beliefs, difficult conversations, and the experiences that shape how people see the world around them.

I designed and developed TerranceAdam.com to give Terrance a dedicated online home for his books and establish a platform that can continue growing alongside his work as an author.

The website currently showcases two of his books, The Poker Player and the Preacher and The Jesus Vote. Rather than creating a complicated author website filled with unnecessary sections, I wanted the books and their stories to remain the focus.

Building a Website Around an Author

An author’s website presents a different design challenge than a traditional business website. There isn’t a list of services to promote or a conventional sales funnel to build. The website needs to introduce the author, showcase the books, generate interest in the stories, and provide readers with a way to learn more.

For Terrance Adam, I built the website around his published work.

The homepage immediately introduces visitors to his books, using the cover artwork and a brief introduction to each story to encourage readers to explore further.

This approach keeps the website simple while making its purpose immediately clear: this is where readers can discover the books of Terrance Adam.

Featuring The Poker Player and the Preacher

The Poker Player and the Preacher tells the story of Adam Foster, a legend in the poker world, and Jacob O’Shea, a man once known worldwide as “The Preacher.” A chance encounter brings the two men together and ultimately changes both of their lives.

The book explores friendship, faith, family, personal struggles, and the unexpected influence people can have on one another.

I created a dedicated section of the website for the book so visitors interested in the story can move beyond the short homepage introduction and learn more about it.

Giving individual books their own pages also provides Terrance with specific destinations he can share when promoting a particular title instead of always directing readers to a general homepage.

Creating a Home for The Jesus Vote

Terrance’s other featured book, The Jesus Vote, begins with a provocative question: if given the opportunity, would Jesus vote Democrat or Republican, and why?

It’s a subject capable of generating strong opinions, but the story explores different viewpoints through its characters rather than simply presenting readers with a political argument.

From a website perspective, this was important. The page needed to introduce the premise clearly while allowing the book itself to remain the place where those ideas are fully explored.

I gave The Jesus Vote its own dedicated presence within the website, making it easy for someone who hears about the book independently to learn more about the story.

Using the Books as the Visual Focus

Book covers are an important part of an author’s brand, so I designed Terrance’s website to give the cover artwork prominent placement.

Instead of overwhelming the pages with decorative website elements, the design allows the books themselves to provide much of the visual identity.

This also creates flexibility for the future. As Terrance publishes additional work, new books can be incorporated into the website while maintaining the same overall author brand and design structure.

Incorporating Reader Reviews

Reader feedback is particularly valuable for an author because someone considering a new book often wants to know how other readers responded to it.

I incorporated customer reviews into the website so visitors can see reactions from people who have already read Terrance’s work.

The reviews add another dimension to the website beyond Terrance describing his own books. Readers discuss the characters, themes, relationships, faith, family dynamics, and emotional elements they personally connected with.

That provides prospective readers with additional context while adding credibility to the books being presented.

Keeping the Website Easy to Navigate

I deliberately kept the navigation straightforward.

Visitors don’t need to work through multiple menus or unrelated sections to find the books. They can move directly from the homepage to the individual title they’re interested in and learn more about it.

That simplicity is particularly useful when the website is shared through social media, email, word of mouth, or other book promotions. Someone visiting TerranceAdam.com for the first time can immediately understand whose website they’ve reached and what they can find there.

Creating an Author Platform That Can Grow

One of the most important reasons for creating an independent author website is ownership.

Books may be sold and promoted through large third-party platforms, but TerranceAdam.com gives Terrance his own permanent online presence where his work can be presented under his own name.

The website isn’t limited to the two books currently featured. Future titles, announcements, reader information, interviews, articles, or other author content can be incorporated without changing the fundamental purpose of the site.

That makes the website more than a promotional page for an individual book. It becomes the foundation for Terrance’s long-term presence as an author.

The Finished Terrance Adam Website

TerranceAdam.com is a relatively simple website compared with some of the larger projects I’ve developed, but that’s exactly what this project called for.

The objective wasn’t to add as many features as possible. It was to create a professional author website where the books take center stage, readers can quickly discover Terrance’s work, and future books have an established home when they’re published.
