About Team Robertson Ready

Team Robertson Ready is a fitness, nutrition, running, and triathlon coaching platform led by head coach John Robertson. The company focuses on individualized coaching rather than generic workout and nutrition programs, working with everyone from people pursuing general fitness and weight-loss goals to competitive runners and triathletes looking to improve their performance.

I designed and developed Team Robertson Ready to bring John’s coaching experience, training programs, educational content, and athlete resources together within one website.

This project required more than creating a website for a personal trainer. Team Robertson Ready had years of experience, educational material, training resources, and specialized coaching knowledge that needed to be organized into a platform people at very different fitness levels could use.

Understanding the Coach Behind the Website

John Robertson brings an extensive background in endurance sports, fitness, and nutrition to Team Robertson Ready.

John earned a nutrition degree from Radford University and holds personal training certifications through ACE and PFIT. He also spent seven years racing as a professional triathlete and has won more than 20 triathlons, including three Ironman events.

His experience extends beyond his own racing career. John has coached hundreds of people in running, triathlon, general fitness, and nutrition, giving Team Robertson Ready a combination of practical coaching experience and firsthand competitive knowledge.

That background needed to be communicated throughout the website because John’s experience is a major part of what separates Team Robertson Ready from generic online fitness programs.

Building the Website Around Individualized Coaching

One of John’s core philosophies is that effective coaching shouldn’t be based on a cookie-cutter program.

Different athletes have different goals, schedules, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, nutritional requirements, and experience levels. Someone preparing for a first running event has completely different needs than an experienced triathlete trying to improve an Ironman time.

I structured the website to reflect that philosophy by separating the different coaching opportunities and providing visitors with clear paths based on what they’re trying to accomplish.

The website includes both athlete coaching and nutrition coaching, allowing Team Robertson Ready to work with people interested in performance as well as those focused on broader fitness and nutrition goals.

Creating Resources for Runners and Triathletes

Running and triathlon are major parts of Team Robertson Ready, so the website needed to serve athletes at multiple experience levels.

I incorporated training resources that allow visitors to begin interacting with the brand before committing to one-on-one coaching. Free running programs provide structured training for athletes working toward specific goals, while additional coaching options are available for people who need a more individualized approach.

One example is the 30-day first 5K program, which was created for beginners who want a straightforward path toward completing their first 5K. The program combines a workout calendar with basic nutrition guidance to help someone move from wanting to run a race to actually having a plan for doing it.

Using Free Training Programs to Introduce the Coaching

One feature I wanted to emphasize was Team Robertson Ready’s collection of free resources.

Someone discovering a coach online may not immediately be ready for individualized coaching. Providing useful training plans gives visitors an opportunity to experience John’s approach before making that decision.

The website therefore uses free programs and downloadable resources as more than simple giveaways. They introduce people to Team Robertson Ready, provide immediate value, and create a natural connection between educational content and the company’s more personalized coaching options.

Building Around a Large Fitness and Nutrition Blog

Team Robertson Ready also had something many fitness websites don’t have: a substantial library of original content developed over many years.

The website includes articles covering running, triathlon, nutrition, strength training, recovery, supplements, body composition, race preparation, healthy recipes, exercise programs, and general fitness.

There are also articles based directly on John’s experiences as an endurance athlete, including race reports and discussions about Ironman training, pacing, open-water swimming, running in the heat, periodization, and common triathlon training mistakes.

Rather than allowing that information to sit disconnected from the rest of the website, I integrated the blog into the overall platform so John’s educational content becomes another way for visitors to discover Team Robertson Ready and understand his approach to coaching.

Using John’s Experience to Build Credibility

Fitness is an industry where anyone can create a website and call themselves a coach. For Team Robertson Ready, it was important that visitors could quickly understand the depth of experience behind the advice they’re receiving.

John’s background includes professional triathlon competition, Ironman victories, running achievements, formal nutrition education, personal training certifications, and years of coaching athletes.

I made that experience an important part of the website rather than hiding it on a small biography page.

The goal wasn’t simply to list credentials. It was to establish why someone looking for help with running, triathlon, fitness, or nutrition should take the coaching and educational information seriously.

Incorporating Real Client Experiences

Testimonials also play an important role throughout the website.

Team Robertson Ready has worked with people pursuing very different goals, including weight loss, muscle gain, improved running performance, triathlon training, and completing distances they previously didn’t believe they could achieve.

Including those experiences helps demonstrate the individualized nature of John’s coaching. The results aren’t limited to one type of athlete or one definition of fitness success.

The testimonials also reinforce recurring themes in John’s coaching approach: accountability, encouragement, realistic expectations, personalized programming, and adjusting the plan around the individual.

Creating a Website for Different Fitness Levels

One of the more interesting challenges with Team Robertson Ready was creating a website that could speak to both beginners and experienced athletes.

A visitor might be trying to complete their first 5K. Another might be training for a marathon. Someone else could be preparing for an Ironman or trying to improve an existing race time.

The website needed to make all of those visitors feel like Team Robertson Ready could potentially help them without becoming so broad that the company’s expertise became unclear.

Organizing the coaching programs, free plans, educational articles, eBooks, and athlete information into separate areas helped create that balance.

Building a Long-Term Coaching Platform

Team Robertson Ready is a good example of a website where the client’s existing knowledge became one of the most valuable parts of the project.

John already had years of experience in triathlon, running, nutrition, fitness, and coaching. My job was to build a website capable of organizing that experience and turning it into something useful online.

The finished platform gives Team Robertson Ready a place to offer individualized coaching, distribute training programs, publish educational content, showcase client experiences, and continue adding new fitness and nutrition resources over time.
